Answers:abiotic factors are things like water (eg moisture, humidity levels), temperature and chemicals in the environment. Bacteria and fungi like warm (eh 25-37oC) and moist (but not wet) conditions for optimum growth. In places where its dry and cold eg Antarctica or dry and hot eg Egypt, South American Derserts, mummies can kept for thousands of years or animals lay around for many years as bacteria/fungi do not grow well or at all in those places and things can be preserved for many years. In the tropics, things rot very quickly and you can get many diseases there. In antractica you don't get colds or flu as the temps are too cold for even viruses to live their happily! Sometimes chemicals in the environment will prevent or promote growth of microbes eg sulfur is used as an antifungal for organic gardens etc as it kills many fungi.
