At that time I purchased a book titled "Mathematics  A Hand Book" which was priced around Rs.30/ and it contained all the formulas, definitions and important material. I purchased that from a local shop at that time. You can now try the same thing from a local shop, it may cost you less that 100/ now, but its worth. All the best dude. z

Question:In many neighborhoods, you might see parents pulling youngsters in a fourwheeled wagon. The child and the wagon have a combined mass of 50 kg and the adult does 2.2x10^3 J of work pulling the two 60 m at a constant speed. The coefficient of friction for the surfaces in contact is 0.26
a) determine the magnitude of force applied by the parents
b) determine the angle that the parent is applying the force
Answers:I disagree with your first answer. The 2.2x10^3 J of work go to overcoming friction. So that energy is consumed by the friction. 2.2x10^3 J of work = Friction force*distance = Friction force*60 m. So Friction force = 2.2x10^3 J / 60 m = 36.7 Newtons The formula for Friction force Friction force = uN = 0.26 x N Where N is the normal force. N = 141 Newtons The weight of the child and wagon are more than that. So the parent is somewhat lifting the load, so the normal force used in the friction calculation is decreased. The normal force is the net vertical force  the difference between the weight (of child and wagon) and the vertical component of the parent's force Normal force = 141 Newtons = m*g  F*sin(w) = 50 kg*9.8 m/s^2  F*sin(w) F*sin(w) = (490  141) Newtons = 349 Newwtons F = 349 Newtons / sin(w) We can also say that the parent's work done is given by force applied * the distance traveled * angle between these 2 vectors 2.2x10^3 J = F * 60 m * cos(w) F = 2.2x10^3 J / (60 m * cos(w)) = 36.7 Newtons / cos(w) Setting the 2 expressions for F equal to each other F = 349 Newtons / sin(w) = 36.7 Newtons / cos(w) cos(w)/sin(w) = 36.7/349 cot(w) = .105 w = 84 degrees I think the parent needs a longer handle on the wagon.

Answers:As a teacher of said courses, here is what I have found: Biology is "wordy", it requires a high level of memorization and moderate level of understanding. The math is easy and generally, the chapters are unrelated; ie you can completely bomb one chapter and ace the next. Read, read, read the book and you'll be fine. Chemistry is highly conceptual; it requires a high level of understanding of many toughtovisualize concepts. You have to picture them in your mind and know WHAT is happening and HOW to apply your knowledge to problems. The math is a little more involved than bio, but not much. The chapters tend to be highly dependent on earlier courses and they build upon each other; ie fail the first chapter, it will get worse in chapter 2. Do, do, do the practice questions and you'll be fine. Physics is heavily math dependent. I don't have too much experience teaching this course, but from what i have seen, you need to know your math. You are able to make it through just by knowing your formulas, when to use them and how to manipulate them. hint: algebra. Very little memorization req'd and you can make it through with minimal conceptual understanding. Do, do, do the practice questions and you'll be fine.
