Answers:(2) Mr. Kork sold his car for $8,400. This was $200 more than two fifths of what he had paid for the car originally. How much had Mr. Kork paid for the car?
Let x = the amount he paid for his car
(2/5)x + 200 = 8400
solve for x
multiply through by 5
2x + 1000 = 42000
2x = 41000
x = 20500
He paid $20,500 for the car

Question:Please give me the answers to these problems and explain to me how you found the answers. Show your work.
Simplify the espression: -2(-5 - 3)
Solve for x:
1. x=(-4)*(-6 - 7) * = multiply sign
2. 6= -9 + 8x
3. x/7 - 5 =16
4. -24= 6 - 3x
5.6/x = 42
Answers:-2(-5 - 3)--> multiply the -2 with -5 and -3
= (-2*(-5)) - (-2*(-2))
= (10 - 4)
1. x=(-4)*(-6 - 7) first do -6 - 7
x = (-4)*(-13) now multiply -4 with -13
x = 52, since both -4 and -13 are negative, the answer is positive
2. 6= -9 + 8x, first isolate the 8x by adding 9 on both side of the equation
6 + 9 = - 9 + 8x
15 = 8x, now isolate the x by dividing 8 by both side of the equation
15/8 = 8x/8
15/8 = x
3. x/7 - 5 =16, isolate the x/7 by adding both sides by 5
x/7 -5 +5 = 16 + 5
x/7 = 21, isolate the x by multiplying both side of the equation by 7
x/7 x 7 = 21 x 7
x = 21 x 7
4. -24= 6 - 3x, isolate the -3x by subtracting both side by 6
-24 - 6 = 6 - 6 - 3x
-30 = -3x, isolate the x by dividing both sides by -3
-30/-3 = -3x/-3
10 = x
5.6/x = 42, isolate the x by multiplying both side by 1/6
6/x*1/6 = 42* 1/6, now the 6 in the 6/x can cancel out with 1/6
x = 42*1/6
x = 42/6 = 7
Question:How do I solve:
Solve for n and how?
Answers:multiply both sides by -16 to get rid of the -16 on the left then -5.
(-16)------- = -1 (-16)
Question:I need an algebra calculator that is free and shows you steps. I am looking at the answer key to this portion of questions I am doing and it doesn't show how they got the answer. Please? No pay sites please. I want to learn how to do the steps, that is why I am asking for them to be shown. I know myalgebra.com has a calculator but to show steps it takes a payment. Please don't tell me that I shouldn't use a calculator, I just want to use it on a couple equations so that I know that I am doing the steps correctly. Because as of right now, I have no idea what I am doing.
