Question:"show how you can use the distributive property to multiply 22x85." How exactly would you answer that? My little bro needs help! PLZ HELP!

Answers:22 * 85 = 22 * (80 + 5) = (22 * 80) + (22 * 5) 22 * 80 = 10 * (22 * 8) = 10 * (8*(20 + 2)) = 10 * (8*20 + 8*2) = 10 * (160 + 16) = 10 * (176) = 1760 22 * 5 = 5 * (20 + 2) = 5*20 + 5*2 = 100 + 10 = 110 22 * 85 = 1760 + 110 = 1870

Question:Mrs Klein made some fruit buns. She sold 3/5 of them in the morning and 1/4 of the remainder in the afternoon. If she sold 200 more fruit buns in the morning than in the afternoon, how many fruit buns did she make? We know the answer is 400, we just don't know how to properly work the problem! We just plugged in numbers until they made sense. Does anyone know how this particular problem should be worked? THANKS!

Answers:Where x is the total: 3/5x = 1/4(x-3/5x) + 200 Distributive property 3/5x = 1/4x - 3/20x + 200 Common denominators 12/20x = 5/20x - 3/20x + 200 Combine like terms 12/20x = 2/20x + 200 Subtract 2/20x 10/20x = 200 Simplify 1/2x = 200 *2 x = 400
