Question:I would like to know some advantages and disadvantages of animal cloning for a thesis paper and I would also like some science-based websites to help me further my research in this prodcedure.

Answers:Some of the advantages of animal cloning are the ability to save and help propagate endangered species, clone animals to gain a greater understanding of them to use towards medicine and cloning technologies. Another advantage is being able to retain the most desirable characteristics without losing them through traditional breeding methods. The disadvantages are the expense, the lack of success, the health problems and disorders due to the newness of the technology and the lack of genetic diversity obtained through cloned individuals. Down the road if we have clonal populations they are much more subject to being wiped out by disease or predator.

Answers:i dont think there is any disadvantage. But it is a very difficult task. by this we can make multiple copies of same individual and could retain its any particular great character.

Question:Also for my science homework. The internet's rubbish.

Answers:Advantages: (1) Makes it possible to create identical copies of the very best individuals in a population, such as the highest milk producing cow, or the largest hog. (2) Makes it possible to produce a genetically identical copy of an individual for tissue or organ transplantation. (3) Extinct or endangered species can be repopulated through cloning. Disadvantages: (1) There is a significant likelihood that the somatic cell used in cloning (i.e., "somatic cell nuclear transfer" (SCNT)) contains mutations which may weaken the cloned individual or have lethal effects. (2) The DNA in the mitochondria of the donor egg differs from the DNA in the mitochondria of the somatic cell, which may cause nuclear-mitochondrial incompatibilities that lead to death. (3) Telomeric shortening in adult somatic cells used in cloning may lead to premature aging and early death. (4) Many, even thousands of eggs may be required to generate one viable clone--a wasteful, expensive process. (5) Cloning reduces genetic diversity by producing nearly identical copies of somatic cell donors. (6) Cloning can be used in a Brave New World scheme to produce classes of identical individuals for specific societal roles, such as a slave caste or a master race. (7) Cloning is regarded as unethical or immoral by many people. (8) Cloning remains experimental with many scientific limitations, although with further research it may someday be efficient and efficacious.

HUMAN CLONING :Cloning is considered the great medical breakthrough of our age. As the definition says clones are copies of another humans look or what he/she likes to eat, but a persons whole personality is based on the experiences in his/her life and there is no method of cloning that can replace the personality. There are also medical disadvantages in human cloning, which make the benefits less effective. It was first thought that stem cells could only be harvested from embryos, but todays researchers are finding that any human cell can be manipulated to replace any tissue of the body. Health risks from mutation of genes - an abnormal baby would be a nightmare come true. The technique is extremely risky right now. A particular worry is the possibility that the genetic material used from the adult will continue to age so that the genes in a newborn baby clone could be - say - 30 years old or more on the day of birth. Many attempts at animal cloning produced disfigured monsters with severe abnormalities. So that would mean creating cloned embryos, implanting them and destroying (presumably) those that look imperfect as they grow in the womb. One of the manor Disadvantages of cloning is that there is a continuous debate relating to the ethical issue of cloning. The concept of cloning is hurting a lot of human sentiments ans human believes. There is a lot of controversy regarding whether cloning is ethical or not. at the present time the controversy is storming the world and took a great ...
