Question:In math class, we are learning about quadrilaterals and stuff and the teacher said that a diamond is not a geometric shape. Why is that?

Answers:Of course it's a geometric shape. But it depends on your (and your teacher's) definition of the phrase "Geometric shape", there are various definitions. Actually, diamond can refer to the 4 sided 2 dimensional figure like this: . It can also refer to the 3 dimensional shape that diamonds are typically cut into. To which are you referring? .

Question:Can you match these for me please, i really need help? Match these: Isosceles, trapezoid, heptagon, octagon, square, rhombus, parallelogram, and rectangle With their definitions: 1 A quadrilateral with exactly 1 pair of parallel sides. 2 A quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel. 3 A parallelogram with four congruent sides. 4 A parallelogram with four right angles. 5 A parallelogram with four right angles and four congruent sides. 6 A polygon with seven sides. 7 A polygon with eight sides. 8 A triangle with two equal sides. NOTE: These are NOT in order and i have no idea what matches what. So please help if you can! Thanks! -Alex.

Answers:Draw each of the shapes on paper and try to describe, in words, to yourself, what defines each shape. If eight shapes tire you, pick only two or three you like ("With the work comes appetite"). Now, imagine that you give your friend a definition, will he be able to draw the correct shape? For example, start with a square. Suppose you define it as "it has four equal sides". Will your friend always come up with a drawing of a square? If not, you should fix the definition. It could be a nice game. If you don't have a friend nearby, perhaps you have a little sister. (Note that a shape may have several different definitions (which are eventually all equivalent, of course).)

Question:All of these are quadlilaterals! 1. What shape has opposite equal angles? 2. What shape has one pair of parrallel lines? Other... If you put two scaline triangles together which have all the angles acute, how many shapes can you get, and what are they? What triangle is a scaline? (put the main rule, e.g. two angles the same) What triangle is an isoscolies? Other other.... What is a "perpendicular bicector? Thanks in advance!

Answers:1. Looks like a parallelogram to me 2. How about a trapezium? A scalene triangle is one in which the angles are all different. Isosceles triangles have two angles the same. The perpendicular bisector of a line is the line that is at right angles to the given line and passes through the midpoint. I'll have to think a bit about putting two scalene triangles together.

Answers:Probably something along the lines of it exists in a 3d matrix on an x-axis, y-axis, and z-axis and containing height, depth, and length.
