# Basic Math Formula Sheet

Math Formula Sheet:

The Basic Math formula sheet covers the topic under number system, algebra, Trigonometry and Geometry part of the subject. The easy understanding and memorizing of the given formulas helps students to score well in their exam. Based on the requirement of student learning purposes a list of basic math formula  are given below.

Rule of Proportion Formula:

1. Addition: $\frac{a}{b}$ + $\frac{c}{d}$ = $\frac{ad+bc}{bd}$

2. Subtraction:  $\frac{a}{b}$ - $\frac{c}{d}$ = $\frac{ad-bc}{bd}$

3. Multiplication:  $\frac{a}{b}$  = $\frac{c}{d}$,then a*d = c*b

4. Division:  $\frac{\frac{a}{b}}{\frac{c}{d}}$ = $\frac{ad}{bc}$

Consumer Math Formulas:

When rate of discount is given  Discount = $\frac{MP*Rate of Discount}{100}$

Simple Interest = $\frac{PTR}{100}$ where P = Principal , T = Time in years R = Rate of interest per annum

Principal = $\frac{100*S.I}{R*T}$

Rate = $\frac{100*S.I}{P*T}$

Time = $\frac{100*S.I}{P*R}$

Principal = Amount - Simple Interest
Discount = MP - SP

Commutative and Associative properties of sets:

Commutative  property:

1.  A∩B = B∩A
2.  A∪B = B∪A

Associative   property:

1. (A∩B)∩C = A∩(B∩c)
2. (A∪B)∪C = A∪(B∪c)

Expansion of Algebraic Expression:

1. (x + a) (x + b) = x+ x(a+b) + (ab)
2. (a + b)2 = a+ 2ab + b2
3. (a - b)2  = a- 2ab + b2
4. (a- b2) = (a + b) (a - b)

Properties of multiplication of algebraic terms:

Commutative law : a*b = b*a
Associative law :   a*(b*c) = (b*c)*a = (c*a)*b
Distributive law :    a(b + c) = ab + ac

Speed and Time:

Speed = $\frac{distance\ travelled}{Time\ taken}$

Number of Revolution = $\frac{Distance\ travelled}{Circumference\ of\ the\ wheel}$

BODMAS Rule:

Brackets Of
Division
Multiplication
Subtraction

Permutation and  Combination:

The number of permutation of n different things taken r at a time is nPr = $\frac{n!}{(n-r)!}$

The number of combination of n different things taken r at a time is nCr = $\frac{n!}{r!(n-r)!}$

Geometric Formula:

Diameter of a circle d = 2r  , where r is radius
Circumference of  a circle C = 2πr  , when radius is given
Relation between circumference and diameter is C = πd

Area:

Area of a circle = πr2, where r is the radius
Area of rectangle = l*b  ,where l is length and b is breadth
Total surface area of cube = 6a2 sq.units
Total surface area of cuboid = 2[lb+bh+hl] sq.units

Volume:

Volume of cube = l3
Volume of Sphere = ($\frac{4}{3}$) × π × r3
π: 3.14, r: radius of sphere
Volume of a cylinder: π × r2 × h
π: 3.14, r: radius of the circle of the base, h: height of the cylinder

Perimeter:

Perimeter of square : 4s  , s is sides of square
Perimeter of Rectangle : 2(l + w),  l is length and w is width of rectangle

Capacity and Volume:

Metric:
1 liter = 1000 milliliters
Customary:
1 gallon  = 4 quarts
1 gallon = 128 fluid ounces
1 quart = 2 pints
1 pint = 2 cups
1 cup = 8 fluid ounces

Distance Formula:  d = $\sqrt{(x_{2}-x_{1})^{2}+(y_{2}-y_{1})^{2}}$

Slope of a line  m = $\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_1}$

Midpoint formula : $\left ( \frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2} \right )$

Slope of an Equation y = mx+b

Worksheet

A worksheet is a sheet of paper, or on a computer, on which problems are worked out or solved and answers recorded.

## Education

Students in a school may have 'fill-in-the-blank' sheets of questions, diagrams, or maps to help them with their exercises. Students will often use worksheets to review what has been taught in class. A worksheet generator is a software program that generates problems, particularly in mathematics or numeracy. Such software is often used by teachers to make classroom materials and tests.

## Accounting

In accounting a worksheet often refers to a loose leaf piece of stationery from a columnar pad, as opposed to one that has been bound into a physical ledger book. From this, the term was extended to designate a single, two-dimensional array of data within a computerized spreadsheet program. Common types of worksheets used in business include financial statements, such as profit and loss reports. Analysts, investors, and accountants track a company's financial statements, balance sheets, and other data on worksheets.

In the Microsoft spreadsheet program Excel, a single document is known as a 'workbook' and by default each workbook contains three arrays or 'worksheets'. One advantage of such programs is that they can contain formulae so that if one cell value is changed, the entire document is automatically updated, based on those formulae.

Question:I record statistics,eg., hrs worked per day ,products produced-per day,-per week,per month ,etc., these numbers are recorded in a vertical column onto a spread sheet .I then make a graph from just one column of numbers. The results are like a wave,leaving me to guess will the next number go up,down,stay the same ,what will it do? I'm looking for a simple formula based on a list of numbers that look random but aren't,there is a high max. and a low min.range different with each statistic.This would be a computer math formula for a spread sheet,my skills on working with formulas is very basic,so explaining step by step in laymans english would be most helpful. Here is a sample list of numbers -products produced- in cell 3c 23,in cell 4c 19,cell 5c 30,""21,""22,""29,""26,""26,""17,""20,""31,""33,""18,cell 16c 22,cell 17c(??????what is this logigal next number?)..... I hope i've explained this simple enough to be understood, can anyone out there help me with this problem????please?????

Question:i need to find a link to a pdf file of the EDEXCEL MATHS A LEVEL formula sheets. please don't bother sending me links to the edexcel site itself cos i cant get on there. thank you. :)

Answers:It doesn't seem to have a formula sheet but a formula BOOK (40 pages). I'm not sure whether this is the right one (don't be daunted by the 40 pages - most are blank or contents). Here's a link to the PDF (unfortunately it is from the edexcel site but hopefully you will be able to access it in PDF format): http://www.edexcel.com/migrationdocuments/GCE%20Curriculum%202000/219797_Formulae_book_Revised_Specification.pdf Good luck.

Question:ive been trying to find a complete sheet of formulas on the internet, but so far i haven't been able to find one, the ones i have found seem to be incomplete, missing formulas.. anyone have one that is standard for math 10, in canada?

Answers:ya i have but i m putup in INDIA...so....sory i cant help

Question:Im taking the ACT tomorrow and I didn't know if I should study my formulas for the math part or if they give you one? does anybody know?
