Answers:Some of the advantages of animal cloning are the ability to save and help propagate endangered species, clone animals to gain a greater understanding of them to use towards medicine and cloning technologies. Another advantage is being able to retain the most desirable characteristics without losing them through traditional breeding methods. The disadvantages are the expense, the lack of success, the health problems and disorders due to the newness of the technology and the lack of genetic diversity obtained through cloned individuals. Down the road if we have clonal populations they are much more subject to being wiped out by disease or predator.
Answers:i dont think there is any disadvantage. But it is a very difficult task. by this we can make multiple copies of same individual and could retain its any particular great character.
Answers:Advantages: (1) Makes it possible to create identical copies of the very best individuals in a population, such as the highest milk producing cow, or the largest hog. (2) Makes it possible to produce a genetically identical copy of an individual for tissue or organ transplantation. (3) Extinct or endangered species can be repopulated through cloning. Disadvantages: (1) There is a significant likelihood that the somatic cell used in cloning (i.e., "somatic cell nuclear transfer" (SCNT)) contains mutations which may weaken the cloned individual or have lethal effects. (2) The DNA in the mitochondria of the donor egg differs from the DNA in the mitochondria of the somatic cell, which may cause nuclear-mitochondrial incompatibilities that lead to death. (3) Telomeric shortening in adult somatic cells used in cloning may lead to premature aging and early death. (4) Many, even thousands of eggs may be required to generate one viable clone--a wasteful, expensive process. (5) Cloning reduces genetic diversity by producing nearly identical copies of somatic cell donors. (6) Cloning can be used in a Brave New World scheme to produce classes of identical individuals for specific societal roles, such as a slave caste or a master race. (7) Cloning is regarded as unethical or immoral by many people. (8) Cloning remains experimental with many scientific limitations, although with further research it may someday be efficient and efficacious.
