How could I put that in word problem format?

1) Katie hit four more home runs than three times the number of home runs hit by Kristen. Together they hit 20 home runs. How many home runs did Kristen hit? Let o= home runs hit by Kristen.
2) The cost of a sweater vest and a blouse is $57. The sweater vest cost twice as much as the blouse. Let r= the price of the blouse. What is the price of the blouse?
3) Find a number such that ten more than three times the number is 52. Let w= the number.

Question:This is an equation word problem but I'm horrible at word problems.. Can someone please show me how to do the steps in getting the answer? The back of the book says it's 30 pairs.. But I need to know how you get the answer. Help :(
Louis has two different job offers for a position in a shoe sales. One pays 25$ per week plus a $2 commission for each pair of shoes sold. The second job pays $40 per week plus a $1.50 commission for each pair of shoes sold. How many shoes would Louis have to sell to make the same total salary in either job?
Answers:p = number of pairs of shoes 25 + 2p = 40 + 1.5 p then get the p's on one side and the numbers on the other 25  1.5p..25  1.5p  0.5p = 15 Now divide 15 by 0.5 and you get 30
